石岡瑛子さんは日本人として初めてグラミー賞を受賞したアートディレクター・グラフィックデザイナーです。（９年前の2012年に逝去されています）資生堂に入社し、その後はパルコや角川書店の広告で斬新なアートディレクションを手がけました。私が石岡瑛子さんの存在を知ったのはBJorkの「コクーン」（2002年）のMVからと、非常に遅いです。しかし、経歴を見れば見るほど興味を惹かれる人物であり、その作品もかっこよく度肝を抜かれるものばかりです。

Eiko Ishioka is the first Japanese art director and graphic designer to win a Grammy Award. (It passed away in 2012, 9 years ago.) After joining Shiseido, he worked on innovative art direction for advertising at PARCO and Kadokawa Shoten. I learned about Eiko Ishioka very late from the music video for BJork’s “Cocoon” (2002). However, the more I look at my career, the more I am attracted to him, and the works are all cool and surprising.

知った瞬間から約１ヶ月半で石岡瑛子展が終わってしまう、、！と少し焦りましたが、でもまだ１ヶ月半あるもんね♡と安心していました。できれば私の子供（はっちゃん）にも見せたいから、１月末くらいに行こうかな～！と、のんびり構えていました。

しかし、2021年1月4日から日本では東京都・神奈川県・千葉県で緊急事態宣言が発令されました。（石岡瑛子展、行っている場合ではないのでは、、）と思いました。しかし、１月11日（祝）に旦那が突然こどもを預かってくれることに。

旦那に預けられるのは去年（2020年）の８月以来と非常に久しぶりなので、これは行かない手はない！と思い切ってMOTへ行くことにしました。映画や展覧会は会期が過ぎれば二度と同じ環境では観られないので、結果的に見て良かった。後悔は全くありません。

１８００円のチケット代には５００円の常設展の料金も含まれています。しかし現在、東京都現代美術館ではコロナのため常設展を閉鎖しています。そのため、常設展再開予定の３～６月に石岡瑛子展で購入したチケットを受付で見せれば、常設展が無料で見られます。（⇒でも、早速私はなくしましたけどね、、！（泣））

石岡瑛子展はチケット売り場からすぐの左手で検温をしてから入場します。１階と地下の２フロアから構成され、内容は非常に盛沢山です。真剣に見ると２時間以上はかかると思います。１階では中に入ると、石岡瑛子さんのインタビュー音声が流れていて、それを聞きながら作品を心行くまで堪能できます。
Eiko Ishioka exhibition will be entered after measuring the temperature with the left hand immediately from the ticket office. 中に入って驚いたのは、閲覧者の皆さんが本当に真剣に展示を見ている点です。上野の美術館で見るような、（とりあえず有名だから来ちゃいました～！）みたいなチャラチャラした雰囲気は皆無です。文字がたくさんある展示物も、皆さんすべて立ち止まって熟読しています。中年の方も若い方も着物を着ている方も、男性も女性もたくさんいます。本当に石岡瑛子さんという存在が美術・服飾・広告デザイン・映画衣装という非常に幅広い業界で熱烈に支持されていて、尊敬されている存在なのだと目の当たりにしました。
Profile of Eiko Ishioka
What surprised me when I went inside was that the viewers were really looking at the exhibition seriously. There is no fluttering atmosphere like you see at the Ueno Royal Museum (I came here because it is famous for the time being!). All of the exhibits with lots of letters stop and read carefully. There are many middle-aged and young people, people wearing kimono, men and women. I have witnessed that Eiko Ishioka is truly respected and enthusiastically supported by a very wide range of industries such as art, clothing, advertising design, and movie costumes.
前半の展示は資生堂時代の広告やアートワーク、角川書店などのの文庫本のアートワークが展示され、その説明が書かれていました。いずれの作品も「○○の広告ってこうだよね」という既成概念をぶちやぶる、斬新なもの。それでいてお洒落でストーリー性があるので、深く心に残るのです。彼女のインタビューでは「何かやりたいことがあるのであれば集中して周りの意見ばかりに惑わさずやりとげること」とありました。

In the first half of the exhibition, advertisements and artwork from the Shiseido era, and artwork from paperback books such as Kadokawa Shoten were exhibited, and explanations were written. もう１つ彼女の言葉で心に残ったのはコラボレーションの重要性です。彼女は途中から様々なアーティスト・プロジェクトとコラボレーションします。コラボする際はとにかく他者と心行くまで意見交換する、というのが彼女のスタンスです。他者を自分の意見で圧倒することは、最終的にあなたが勝てなくなることを意味すると説いています。
Another thing that struck me in her words was the importance of collaboration. She collaborates with various artist projects along the way. When collaborating, her stance is to exchange opinions with others to her heart’s content. Overwhelming others with your own opinion means that you will eventually lose the win.
彼女の作品を見ていると、表面的ではなく深い思想・哲学から入っているので迫力が違います。そして、どんな仕事でも全力で立ち向かうので深い感動を呼ぶのです。彼女の年表が地下1階の入り口にありましたが、文京区の生まれでご両親もデザイン系・アート系のお仕事をされているのですね。資生堂の面接時に「男と同じ仕事をするので、同じ待遇で雇ってください」と言ったそうです。結果、男性以上のパフォーマンスを達成しています。かっこよすぎな日本女性です。

後半は文化服装学院や東京モード学院（私は法政大学⇒東京モード学園卒です）などの服飾の学生さんには是非見て頂きたい内容です。イッセイミヤケやコムデギャルソンを彷彿とさせる映画衣装のデザインは一瞬でゾクゾクするほど魅力的で感動的でカッコよくてしびれます。
The second half is a must-see for fashion students such as Bunka Fashion College and Tokyo Mode Gakuen (I am a graduate of Hosei University ⇒ Tokyo Mode Gakuen). The design of the movie costumes, which is reminiscent of Issey Miyake and Comme des Garcons, is so attractive, moving, and numb that it makes you chill in an instant.

私は石岡さんに関してはあまり詳しくありませんが、石岡さんが一緒に仕事をしたアイスランド人音楽家「BJork」に関してはアイスランドに住むためにアイスランド大使館で奨学金の面接を受けたほどガチで大好きです。
I’m not very familiar with Mr. Ishioka, but I love the Icelandic musician “B Jork” with whom Mr. Ishioka worked so much that he was interviewed for a scholarship at the Icelandic embassy to live in Iceland. is.
Bjorkはいつもそうですが、一緒に仕事をしたいアーティストへ直にメールをします。石岡瑛子さんはBjorkの主演映画「ダンサーインザダーク」を見た後に彼女から仕事の依頼があったそうで、将来的には一緒にミュージカルもやりたいね、と話していたそうです。（実現してたら、さぞかし歴史的に素晴らしい創造物ができたことは想像に難くありません）

1月の３連休の最終日の午前１１時くらいに予約なしで行きましたが、問題なく入館できました。館内は天井が高く非常に広いです。しかし、石岡瑛子展の各ブースの中にはがっつり人がたくさんいて、決して空いているとは言えません。熱烈なファンの方が少しずつ距離を取り、上手に作品を見て回っているという印象です。
I went without a reservation around 11:00 am on the last day of the three consecutive holidays in January, but I was able to enter without any problems. The hall has a high ceiling and is very large. However, there are a lot of people in each booth of the Eiko Ishioka exhibition, so it cannot be said that they are vacant. I get the impression that the enthusiastic fans are gradually taking a distance and looking around the work well.
